Immature Snowy Egret (E. thula) or Little Egret (E. garzetta) with deformed bill at Trincity Sewage Ponds, Trinidad, 13 July 2000. Photos © by Floyd Hayes. In photo D the bird can be compared with a normal Snowy Egret on the right. This aberrant individual was present from 13-21 July 2000, and was initially thought to be a possible white-morph Western Reef-Heron--based on its heavy bill and relatively pale bill and legs--until the photos were developed, revealing an abnormally shaped bill.
