First-year immature (left in A, B, left in C, D, left in A, top in F) and second-year (possibly advanced first-year?) immature (right in C, right in E, G) with Laughing Gulls (L. atricilla; centre in A, centre in E, bottom in G), adult Kelp Gull (L. dominicanus; right in A, middle in F) and adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (L. fuscus; bottom in F) at Waterloo, Trinidad, 10 July 2000. Photos © by Floyd Hayes. Note the relatively short wings of both birds (which change at different angles), suggestive of Kelp Gull, the prominent gonys on a rather thin bill of the first-year immature, and the slate grey wings and back of the second-year immature.
