VIRGIN ISLANDS
Connecticut Warbler (Oporornis agilis)
A
B                                   C
Probable immature (A) and possible other individuals (B and C) in a flock of at least five birds about halfway between Virgin Gorda and St. Croix, Virgin Islands, 8 October 2002. Photos © by Gregory Kunkel. Apparently second record for the Virgin Islands (one previous report from St. Croix), these birds were observed at night as they were illuminated by the deck lights of the east-bound cruise ship MV Century. The birds were visible for about a half hour as they flew above the ship. This apparently exhausted individual was photographed on the deck at 11:12 pm. The identity of the other individuals remains uncertain, but may well also be Connecticut Warblers.
